Today, I ran.
I’ve been out twice this spring, but they were weenie 2 mi runs after essentially taking two months off. I spent most of the winter sitting on my ever-expanding ass, even managing to gain back about 7 lbs of the 23 I lost last year. Not cool.
So I’m starting my running a month earlier than last year. I’m sitting at about 130 lbs. I may be heavier, but I’m too afraid to get on the scale today, lest it ruin the positive mood I’ve got going after surviving my first 5K of the season.
I expected my time to be in the 31:30 range but was pleasantly surprised to see if run the 3.1 loop in 30:47. Not my fastest, but after a 2 month break? I can definitely build on that.
Next time when I’m not pecking on an iPhone screen, I’ll talk a bit about my running goals this year.

Wow, this was one of those runs when I knew I could cover the distance, but I knew there would be walking. And there was, quite a bit of it, for the last six miles.

Skipped the long run yesterday due to laziness and a sore knee. Fourteen this weekend. We’ll see how it goes.

This was tough. If it weren’t for Pearl Jam on the iPhone during the last three miles, I don’t think I would have made it. Hot, windy, and I got about four hours sleep the night before. Also, I put in 36 miles this week, more than I ever have on this training plan. At this point, you’re just beat. I just keep telling myself that when I taper down in a few weeks, I won’t be this tired come race day.

Windy and cold this morning, but it was a good run. Got out at 6:30, which was 30 minutes later than I wanted, but I couldn’t get my butt out of bed. It worked out fine. The sun was coming up as I headed out the door, and I didn’t see any bears. That’s always a good thing.
Not looking forward to 18 on Saturday, but looking forward to a day off of running on Friday.

I can’t believe this is right, but that’s what it says. I did try to push myself for the first half of the workout, but I felt like I slowed down for the last few miles.

GPS quit on me so I’m not sure what my splits were. I know I started out faster and ended slower. I’m trying to keep these long runs slower without being out there for any longer than I need to. This is a decent pace. Even though I’d love to run 10:00 miles in the marathon, I’d be happy with this.

Cut my 8 mile run short and only ran 5. Felt good; wish I’d have run the entire 8.
